Our Family Support Worker
My role as Family Support Worker is to support you and your family so your child/ren can do their best at school and to support the whole family with any issues you are facing. This might involve:
- Supporting with housing letters/applications.
- Signposting to other agencies who have expertise in the relevant areas such as debt/employment/counselling.
- Supporting parents improve child/ren attendance and punctuality.
- Supporting parents/children with wellbeing.
- Working alongside parents to improve children’s behaviour.
- Supporting children 1-1 or small groups with their friendships, confidence, emotions, and bereavement.
- Supporting children and parents through the school transition process.
- Offering Early Help Assessment based on low level support.
Early Help Assessments
An Early Help Assessment enables you to access various support which is low level. This includes meeting regular with Mrs Pocock over a period of time to discuss actions set and ensure the support in place is having a positive impact for you and your family. Referrals for extra support can be made with parental consent.
In school we deliver parent courses to learn new skills, supporting employment opportunities and also hold coffee mornings throughout the year where parents are invited into school and we also invite external professionals to deliver support around various areas such as SEND, toileting and bedtime routines. Keep an eye out for emails and text messages with more information. It’s a great chance to chat to Mrs Pocock, access further advice and information and meet other parents.
