Once again, we have a topic where we can showcase the work of 2 of our year groups, It is lovely to see the work of some of our infants alongside similar topic work from our Year 5’s. I think you will agree they all did a magnificent job. Let’s hope that we can get together soon and share some of this work and knowledge in person with one another.

Here is a super piece of writing from year 5, well done Alex!

A humongous number of keys were wafted in front of the four arrogant and greedy children who were eager to find out what was in store for them. Meanwhile, a loving and caring one looked on excitedly as Willy Wonka knelt down to open up a tiny and door that stood oddly proud at the end of a long hallway. “welcome,” he said, “to the chocolate room!” and with that the giant doors swung open to reveal a truly amazing landscape…

Huge trees towered above the children with gummy bears and toffee apples hanging from their branches. Beautiful, lush green edible grass covered the whole floor of the giant room while giant, delectable mushrooms and pumpkins lay on it, waiting for someone to come along and eat them. A glistening waterfall of chocolate fell down a whole side of the room where it met a river of chocolate that had large edible boulders in it to further churn the chocolate before it was taken down a tunnel to another room.

The children gazed in awe at what lay ahead of them, Augustus dropped a half-eaten chocolate bar on the ground, Violet almost lost her world record holding gum and Verruca started yelling at her dad saying she wanted everything in the room to herself. Without any explanation on what the purpose of the room was, the children and adults were already waist deep in confectionary. Violet took to the toffee apples on the trees while Charlie went straight to the giant gummy bears hanging of the trees. Mike went about doing Mike stuff like smashing pumpkins to smithereens or playing piñata with toffee apples. Augustus, well he just ate and ate and ate some more until his entire mouth was covered in chocolate. Verruca was happily enjoying her lollypop until she saw something very strange indeed…

“Daddy, what is that?” she shouted as her farther came over to have a closer look.

“it looks like a…a person!” he replied, “but small, very small”

“I see you have spotted some of my Oompa Loompas?” said Willy Wonka as he noticed the two staring at them.

“Oompa Loompas?” questioned mike’s dad who had come over as well.

“yes, straight from Loompa land.” Wonka replied.

“there is no such place!” he argued.

“There is I will have you know, a horrible place it is.”

By now everyone was goggling at these strange creatures except for one, Augustus…

Augustus was shovelling the grass into his mouth as he crawled on the floor of the room, cramming gobstoppers into his mouth and toping it off with whipped cream. It was then his eyes fixed on the prize, the giant chocolate river, in an instant, he was crawling towards it on hands and knees. “Hey young man! Be careful you will fall in” Willy Wonka exclaimed but it was too late, Augustus had already fallen in and was struggling as his lack of being able to swim haunted him. “Hurry! Someone save him.” yelled his mum frantically. And then, out of nowhere a big pipe came into the room and started sucking up the chocolate and, funnily enough, Augustus as well.
